China Dahua Group Corporation (Dahua) plans to build a 500000 T/a aromatics plant in Dalian Economic and Technological Development Zone. The preliminary feasibility study of the project has been completed and will be submitted to the relevant departments for approval. The aromatics unit mainly produces p-xylene and is supplied with raw materials by two refineries of Dalian West Pacific Petrochemical and Dalian Petrochemical. The refining and processing capacity of Western Pacific Petrochemical is 10million T/A, and the refining and processing capacity of Dalian Petrochemical will be increased from the current 10.5 million T/A to 20million T/A in 2006. The aromatics unit product will be used as the raw material for the 500000 T/a refining plant in this area, which is a professional plant in the field of blow molding terephthalic acid (PTA) production unit. Dahua plans to establish a PTA project joint venture with Heilongjiang Longdi Group Co., Ltd. (Longdi group accounts for most of the shares). At present, the PTA project is awaiting the approval of relevant departments
